I have 2 desert tortoises. I know what to feed them and how to house them, but want to know if I should interact with them or just let them go about they're own business. They both live in the yard, but one comes up to the glass door and comes in when I open it. Does she want to be around people or just like the temperature in here? Please email me if you have any info on tortoise behavior.

Thanks!

hi there i am the proud owner of a leopard tortoise who i've had since he was a hatchling.. he is now 13 years old, i say yes give them attention.. you may not think they are really interested but they sure know who you are and your smell and even the sounds you make like your voice or sounds you make to get thier attention. my tort comes to me when i make the sound most people use to call a dog or cat.like the kiss sound.he will not come to my husband or children when they do this. i hold him as much as possible and if they come to you by all means love them..heehee i even kiss mine.

Definately interact with them. They are very intelligent creatures. I have a friend that calls for his, and they come his way. You and your torts will both be happy.
