I looked it up too, nothing.
It was around the time president Bush was elected, maybe she felt sorry for those who voted for him. lol.
Maybe it was something small like a building that blew up or something. ( I guess that isn't exactly 'small' but, its smaller than things like Sept.11.... )

Hey when did that tsunami happen in Sri Lanka??? The OP was from Singapore so maybe that is it??
Nevermind that was in 2004. Hurricane Katrina was in 2005, 9/11 was 2001. I don't know of any more natural disasters, or un-natural.

Hmm...how odd.
This is all I've found.
2000, mid-September, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam: rising flood waters from the Mekong River and its tributaries destroyed crops and livestock and left at least 235 people dead and 4.5 million homeless. Damages were estimated at $50 million in Cambodia and $24 million in Thailand.
Oct. 12, Aden, Yemen: U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole was heavily damaged when a small boat loaded with explosives blew up alongside it. Seventeen sailors were killed in what was apparently a deliberate terrorist attack.
Oct. 16–18, Switzerland, France, and Italy: Heavy rains in the Alpine region of Switzerland, France, and Italy caused flooding and rock- and mudslides, which left more than 2 dozen people dead and forced the evacuation of thousands more.
Oct. 31, Taipei, Taiwan: Los Angeles–bound Singapore Airlines jet with 179 people aboard crashed on takeoff from Chiang Kai-shek International Airport, killing 81.
October–November, western Europe: Weeks of rain caused widespread flooding in much of Great Britain, southern France, and northern Spain and Italy.
Nov. 3, western United States: A combination of hot, dry weather and plenty of dry vegetation led to one of the most destructive forest fire seasons in U.S. history. Between Jan. 1 and Nov. 3 about 7.2 million acres had burned nationwide, nearly double the ten-year average. States hardest hit included Alaska, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, and Oregon.
Nov. 3, Philippines: A typhoon packing winds of up to 75 mph slammed into the island of Luzon, killing at least 24 and forcing the evacuation of over 100,000.
Nov. 5, nr. Ibadan, Nigeria: A fuel tanker crashed into a line of stopped vehicles, causing a fire that left scores of motorists and bystanders dead.
Nov. 11, nr. Kaprun, Austria: A cable car transporting skiers to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier broke into flames while moving through a mountain tunnel. The final death toll reached 156, including 90 Austrians, in what was termed Austria's worst Alpine disaster.
Somehow I see it more likely to be one in the UK or the US, but it really could be any of those.

I think that's the one, since the person that started this thread is from Singapore.
