I had a pair of Goldie's Lorikeets before I developed Bird Keeper's Lung and had to place them with another breeder.
They were quite charming and very entertaining, but the diet IS a problem, and you can't put them onto pellets as some sources suggest. With the liquid diet, hence, very liquid feces, that they squirt out of the cage, onto walls, floors, curtains, etc. Unless you're into daily washing of these surfaces, or are in a location where you can keep them in an aviary that you can hose down daily, they are difficult to maintain cleanly.
The male, Checkers, was particularly amusing. He liked to launch himself at my face, grab onto my bangs to swing on, then hoist himself up onto my glasses and next thing I knew, his little body would be snugged down between my eye and the glasses and he'd be grooming my eyelashes. Hm...maybe not to everyone's taste. But they were very comical, and I have seen some on Tv (Buru and Scaley Breasted) that are quite engaging.
