Shelter volunteers?

Hello everybody,

Are there any animal shelter volunteers out there I could swap information and experience with?
Everybody welcome though who has a pet from a shelter or who wants to know more about life at an animal shelter.

I'm an animal lover. How I wish I could have the time & place for all the poor animals out there. I guess I do not have much to give but I am looking for a temporary shelter, of 6 months, for my 3 pet cats. I would love to bring them along with me when I leave for London. Eventhough, Britain has lifted their quarantine regulations last February but it is actually more of a reverse quarantine. I'm "traped". I was hoping that I could leave for London with my babies unfortunately they have to live to fend for themselves without their mommy. Any suggestions?

hi, I volenteer in our gift shop. I love it. See to many sad things but atleast I get to see some happy things too.

Hi Mariana,

I am so sorry that you are in such a predicament. It would definitely break my heart too if I had to leave my babies behind. 6 months are a long time and if you check out shelters they may give you a decent price for those 6 months, otherwise if you have to pay the daily fee you will be broke within a short time. Personally I would not leave them at a shelter but look for a private cat home. They are usually better equipped to keep cats happy for a longer stretch of time. Important is to really have a close look at the place. Best thing would be if you had a friend who would take them in, but I am sure you have checked this out already.

I feel that the people who work in shelters are very special people.

I live in a small community, and While I absolutely Love animals, I don't think I could ever work at the shelter. It would be too hard for me to go home at night and leave the poor things with no home.

I'd fall in love with every animal that ever came in, and my husband would strangle me for bringing them home, and I know I would.
