Well I love my rabbit. I am not sure if it is the most fun but they are quite active and smart. They live longer than hamsters and guinea pigs but I am sure those animals are fun too. Blister

I've had rabbits years ago....and guinea pigs, chinchilla, hamsters, hedgehog, a raccoon, a tame chipmunk, but I think that my favourites were....
MICE!
Yup. All of the small mammals had their own charms and troubles, but those mice were heaps of entertainment. I had various females all through college (males are too smelly) and each one had her own personality, tricks, traits, etc. You would not expect that in such a tiny animals, but they did.
I can't say that I favoured one over the other of them, they were all so different, but I had a lot of companionship from them. You would not expect to find one that would DEMAND head-rubs, sticking her head between your thumb and finger, and loving it for a full 20 minutes (or more, if you were willing), or another one, who had a crude sense of humor (on a par with a lighted match between the toes, admittedly). She was also smart enough to figure out how to call me over to her cage by rattling her tail rapidly against the cardboard to alert me, then would run to the front of the table top to see if I was coming. If I wasn't, she'd go and repeat it, then run to see if I was coming to pick her up or not.
I think the biggest factor in the 'most fun' is how much time you spend with your animal. Animals that are ignored or shuffled off to some back room or the basement rarely develope the personality that ones who interact with you throughout the day, every day.

I've had all kinds of animals, but I would have to say that of the mammals I got the most enjoyment out of my Hamster "Denny" He would run in his ball, on his wheel, get annoyed with me if I didn't get him out on time for his run on the kitchen table, or just pay attention to him when he thought I should. He lived to be 4 1/2. I understand that it quite old for a hamster. He died of old age in his sleep. I cried for days.

I would have to say the Chinchilla.
They r hardy animals, they can live long so you wont have to worry about them dying in a few years (keep their cage clean and take care of em, they can live for up to 20 yrs.)
plus they r cute and fun and active!

I love guinea pigs! You can have two guinea pigs, and have fun watching them play, and leap in the air and you can play tug-a-war with them.

Bunny wabbits! I lurve them. Funny story, I went to Petco to get some hermit crabs a few years ago, and ended up coming home with the rabbits! They were up for adoption, everything free, and I fell in love. Who couldn't fall in love with rabbits???!!!

Rats!
Pros-
Smarter than most small animals, so you can teach them tricks. I taught mine their names without even really trying.
More affectionate than most small animals and not timid. My rats love to cuddle and the hyper one is hyper kissy.
Sleep in big rat piles, very cute!
Groom themselves, no brushing or baths needed. (some males get greasy, but olive oil once a week takes care of that)
Cons-
Chew if you aren't looking, never wear your best clothes with a rat!
Have a short life span, 3-4 years

I've had rats and hamsters, and I've both had good experiences with them. Hamsters weren't loving but they were bundles of fun and very cute. But I think the rats take the prize. They are adorable little animals, affectionate, and smarter than you may think. One of my rats, Dewey, will stay perched on my shoulder snuggled up to my neck. He'll even fall asleep there. Whiskers will follow me around and gives me kisses while he's sitting in my lap. They recognize you and will jump up on the cage bars to get tummy scratches. Of course, I've not owned every single kind of small animal, but rats are the best small animals I've ever had experience with.
