I've pretty much decided on a leopard gecko. I've never owned a lizard before, though...I have a few questions about things I've read so far...

-I heard newspaper or paper towel make good bedding because sometimes sand gets injested. What do you guys use/recommend?

-I have a 40 Watt reptile bulb already, along with a 10 gallon tank (with a screen cover). I heard the temperature should be 85-90 and can drop to 68-75 at night. Are these temperatures right? And also, is this for the whole tank? I'm assuming I need an under tank heating pad as well. I was wondering if anybody has any preference towards a brand or type?

-What do you guys use in the hiding spot for bedding? I heard of a few people using potting soil, but then other things saying that potting soil isn't good to use in case the lizard eats some of it...

****This one I'm concerned about...where is the best place to get a leopard gecko? I've seen them at petco and such ..but I want a good, healthy animal...where do you guys recommend?

Thankyou so much...

Seach on Google for what i use, "Eco Bricks" which is compressed coconut shell, it's non-toxic, and it's compleatly steril.
