Where are the horses?

Hi there,

I am a fairly new member, and I absolutely love these forums. I learn a lot by just reading other people's posts, as well as posting some of my own. I especially enjoy the dog and bird sections, as I own a wonderful dog, as well as a bird who I need some advice on.... However, I must admit that I am a horse lover at heart (I own a horse as well), and I was just wondering why there isn't a section devoted to these beautiful creatures???

Hi Mapel girl,

I used to have a horse too. I guess the reason there is no page for horses is because they are not really pets. I'm not saying I didn't love my horse and I'm sure you love yours too but they are a bit different than a pet. More of a working animal.

I for one think that horses should qualify as pets. They are not usualy working animals anymore. Sure they are big and very different than some of the little creatures here at petshub, but what a great addition a horse section would be. I would think with enough interest and people willing to do it that we will see it become a reality shortly. Of all the animals in the world the horse is my all time favorite. I have owned many and have worked on many ranches in my youth. I currently do not own a horse as my 6 children keep me too busy, but when my youngest is in kindergarten I shall once again join the horsey sect. I hope to see hundreds of posts here>Marianne

I also believe that a horse is a pet. I have a Arabian, dwarf miniature horse, and a miniature horse, and other animals. There is a forum for miniature horses and there is a chat room off of that site. cinderella

can you ride? i would get some experiance with horses before you get one. horses are a lot of work. you should have riding lessond and find out things about horses. also, do you have room for a horse? if not, what about board/ agistment? differnet horses cost differnent amounts. horses arent easy to look after. they are nothing like dogs. you may like or even love horses but if you dont experiance this will be a disaster for you and the horse! i want to get a horse so im getting riding and horse care lessons for 2 years before i get my horse. what im learning is that horses are very hard work. good luck!:angel5:

I ride western and love it. I do not see how is is more dangerous than english if you ride hunter jump that is more dangerous than western. Depending on what you do in western. I ride western pleasure and have been riding for over 6 years and only fell once and that was because she spooked on the trail. I ride an Arab mare I have known her since she was 4 years old and still green. She was a wonderful mare. I did not own her but the lady that did always called her my horse because I had a bond with her that even her owner never had. Her name is Souci, I no longer get to ride her tho because her owners health failed and she could not keep her. I know where she lives she is now a tharpy horse here in town and I can go visit her whenever I want too.
