We adopted a Doberman Mix (6mons old now) about 2 months ago. All was well with the at home training up until about 2 weeks ago. He started relieving himself on the carpeting again (which he did for about a week after we first got him...but he got the idea). And now that his baby teeth have all fallen out he loves to bite..no more playful nibbling. He also jumps on the counter tops to try and sneak food. I was just curious if professional obedience training is needed here or is there something i can do to get him to listen to me. He seems to be very stubborn which i've read dobermans are. Smart but very stubborn. Its like he knows he's doing wrong but he's highly testing us. And what is the cost roughly of prof. training? I read somewhere that Prof. training isnt good for dobermans.

He definately needs training or beware he will get worse. There are many many places in Florida that does training. Find one and sign him up as soon as you can.
As for the biting here is a thing you can do. Yell OW real loud then No Bite. Be very firm in this and then ignore him for a little while. You have to keep doing this before it gets out of control.
Even dobermans need training, and it is better to train them to be a good dog instead of not training them and having them out of control. In fact it is highly reccommended that breeds like Dobes, Rotts, German Shepards ect get more training then oh a poodle. I own a rottweiler and he is doing wonderful in class.
Do you crate him? If not I would suggest that too. It will keep him from soiling your carpet when you are not watching him. Also is he on a feeding schedule? What goes in must come out.
Many of the things I hear you saying he is doing wrong is your fault. Now dont take that wrong. But if you do not take lead over him he will take lead over you. Get a spray bottle and when he gets on the counters Spray and yell OFF not down but OFF again in a firm voice. If you cannot watch him then he should be in his crate.
I highly suggest getting him in a class ASAP and good luck.

I would do a obed class. It's just good for you both. Also crate traing would help.

I do crate him. And i've done the 'ow no bite thing'. And he's not bothered by spray bottles cuase we've tried. He is on a feeding schedule. But i'll highly look into those classes.
