*if anyone is wondering what they are eating in the first pic, it is my daughter's Gerber FingerFoods Fruit Puffs, they love them!

Nice babies you got there
Have you started touching them yet? I was just wondering, as it is still too early to do that.

Cute! I remember when my hammies had babies. My 2 "boy" hammies, so to be said. Lolz. It got pretty crazy around here for a while! Hammies everywhere! Unfortunately, a lot of them wound up killing each other. The rest I gave to friends.

Okay. Just making sure.
If they are 14 days old, then you only have 4 more days before you can touch them :)

Anywho, I say they are adorable!

Who's touchy?
And they were born either late on the 24th or early the 25th. So they are... *thinking* 16 or 17 days old now?

Wheels is touchy. If you hold them, you hold them. Maybe you should and maybe you shouldn't, who's to say? They look like something I want to touch! Teehee!

LilWurm, if you hold a hamster who is under the age of 18 days, chances are that the mother will kill them, then eat them.
Taylorjade, even better :)

Interesting. I never had that problem. Maybe I just got lucky.
Sorry, didn't mean to offend you. :(

Not a problem. I know some people say 14 days is okay, but after going through 6 hamster pregnacies, I recommend waiting 18-21 days before touching the babies,

I guess I'm just ignorant because the information is no longer useful to me. All of my hammies are gone.
I do want a hairless syrian, though! But I'm only getting one hammie this time and will get it used to playing with me instead of another hammie. I hear Syrians are very solitary anyway.
That's good information, though!

Syrian's are a solitary breed. If you were to put 2 of them together, they would either harm each other, or kill each other.

If you get a hairless Syrian.. don't ever breed it! They are called "Alien Hamsters" and I read that Hairless moms do not lactate so you would have to breed a hairless male to a haired female and produce half and half. Also, there are many genectic defects with hairless hammies that you have to be careful of.

I read that about breeding them, too. But no worries ... that was why I said I was only getting one. First of all, they fight (usually to the death).
And second of all, I don't want to breed them. I have no intention of that at all. They're impossible to get rid of when I want them to find new homes, and they multiply way too fast for me! I just want one to love. Just one.
