I couldn't believe it....but while I have my two hamsters in my hands today one actually tries to bite the other and start a fight! Do Syrians always fight even when on neutral territory? Maybe I should never let them anywhere near each other again?

No, do not let them near each other. Let that be a lesson to those who think Syrians can be kept even for a short time in pairs. They cannot. Glad no one got hurt!

Syrians cannot be together- anywhere- for any amount of time- for any reason. They will eventually fight- and even before they get around to fighting, it is stressful to them. Stress causes wettail, not to mention behavioral problems. Please be careful and responsible.

I know you're not making fun of Alabama when you don't even know how to capitalize or punctuate!
Just Kidding. What is that 'oh great Alabama is coming' supposed to mean, anyway?

Thanks for the heads up. I knew Syrians could not be in the same cage together but I had no idea that even on neutral territory they could not be together.
However I think the one that tried to bite the other is aggressive. Today while standing next to her cage talking to my fiancee she decides to basicly leap towards me while she's still in her cage, while chattering her teeth. It was as if she wanted to jump thru her cage and come after me. What's upwith that?

Revenge- you still haven't explained the Alabama reference.
And LD is no excuse. You can recognize proper sentences- utilize them.
Sorry for the aside, Dawg.
*YOU* are not neutral territory to your hamsters. There IS no neutral territory, in fact- as one has been there, smelled that smell, etc. before and is going to defend it as their own.
I put my hamsters in their balls at the same time- that is the only safe way to have them out together.
As for the aggression- how long have you had her? Perhaps she is just not properly tamed yet?

I've had one for over 3 months and the other, the aggressive one for close to 3 months. I think she's always been this way. She seems to act as the bully.

That makes absolutely no sense to me, Revenge.
Some hamsters take a little longer, a little more TLC to tame- and some regress if they are upset about something. I think if you keep them seperated, and continue to show her love and compassion, she'll calm down a bit. Other than that, the only possibility could be that she is pregnant or sick- so I'd keep an eye on her eating, pooing, etc habits just to be sure.
