I put my hammy Cleo in her ball so that she could roll around while I cleaned out her cage. When I got done I was walking outside to throw her bedding in the trash, when I saw her ball broken open and she was nowhere to be found! I thought I had lost my little Cleo for ever. Pluse we have two cats and a kitten so I figured her chances of liveing were slim. So I started my search. I looked just about every where I figured she would be. I was coming back out of my room when I saw my little kitten fowling something crawling across the floor when I got closer I discovered it was Cleo! Boy was I lucky that it was the kitten that found her and not one of the big cats!

Thank goodness your hamster is fine. If you want to let your hamster run in the ball again, you can paste a tape on it to secure it in future. ;)

Uh-oh. Don't take the risk anymore. Give it the normal running wheel. I will :bawling: if my hamster gets lost.

How great that all these episodes ended on a happy note. I would not feel so secure just with a new ball, as even new ones will open up. I have three balls of different sizes for various animal friends and I always put on tape when I use one. I would not want to lose one of my family. Be careful with the balls. The wheel is a much safer way to get exercise for sure, but all of our pets are different. For example my male teddy hamster loves his wheel but for the female there is just no comparison with regards the ball, she loves rolling all over the house. Marianne
