Hamster Problems

I have a couple of problems with my hamsters...

First of all I have two hamsters, Moby and Mickey. They are both Syrain hamsters. Moby is a short haired hamster and Mickey is a teddy bear hamster. Moby seems to be uninterested in his wheel, he sleeps like all day except to get some food or sometimes he wakes up for an hour or two and goes back to sleep...How do I get him to go on the wheel? I thought hamsters liked wheels! lol. Also, Mickey's and Moby's teeth are quite long, can anyone suggest anything to let them bite to let it wear down? Thanks.Also any recommendations for toys and such stuff for them? I'm going shopping tomorrow and want to pick up a couple of things for them :D

First off, Are they in the same cage? If so, You NEED to separate them, Syrians are solitary and WILL fight.

I've heard of a few hams that aren't interested in their wheel, All you need to do is play with them more than often, let them run around in a ball. And who knows? He may take a sudden intrest in the wheel:)

Hamsters teeth never stop growing, So You should put plenty of chews in the cage (they also love dog biscuts), Eventually they'll probally start chewing on the cage bars.

I have had the problem where hamsters will not be interested in wheels. As noted above, make sure he gets some extra exercise by letting him run around in a hamster ball. If you do not have one, you can purchase one for around $7.00.

As for their teeth being too long, you can buy chew sticks for a cheap price. You can get a pack of 6+ chew sticks for less then $3.00.

Also, if you notice that your hamster's nail are growing too long, and you are unable to cut them, you might want to put a brick in the hamster's cage. When the hamster walks on it, the brick will assist in trimming the nails.

As for toys, you can buy hidaways, and things like that. Some other things that are cool are the cars that you can buy. You can also buy a track to put the car on. Just stick your hamster in the car, and on his way he will be.

As noted above, you can also buy biscuits for your hamsters. I would recommend a box of the Milkbone un-flavored dog biscuits. They are also fairly cheap.

lilgypsyhammy, of course they are not in the same cage! I knew that a long time ago lol. They both have their own cages. Good Idea, today I went out and bought him one of those balls to run around in. Tonight I will put him in it :D Hope it will work! Wheels, the chew sticks sound great! I will buy some next time, thanks :D Actually, a long time ago Moby's nails were quite long and I was going to take him to the vet to get it trimmed but then it got shortened..somehow lol. What exactly are hidaways? The car thing sounds cool, is it expensive? Thank you both very much! :D I love Pet Hub!! lol.

i had the car for my hmster she LOVED it! the thing that stinks about it is its kinda hard to dry lol but other than that its really fun to watch your hamster roll around and everything..the ball is also very fun! i personaly like the ball better than the car because with the ball, your hammy can go anywhere and turn. with the car your hammy can't exactly turn it can only go in a straight line...just thought you would like to know! =) hope i helped!
