my hamster literally dosent do anything, why? it is only a few weeks old, it just sits in the middle of the cage and squeaks.....it eats and drinks normal, doesnt have any injuries, eyes wide open no signs of a sickness....but if it isnt sleeping it is just in the tank squeaking, not walking around or playing with any toys

What kind is it - Syrian or dwarf? Maybe he is more active at night when you are sleeping. Also, if he is new, he may need time to adjust to his new home. You could try putting him in a playpen with toys, for variety too.

I thought that too about some of mine - and then I caught them running in a wheel or exploring, usually at night or when he thought I was not there.
He may be too scared to move out when he knows someone is around espcially in a bright room. Patience, and get him used to you. Then move him to a play bin with new toys and tubes and things to smell and examine to keep him mentally stimulated wth different stuff.
