I have a female beta and she appears to have ick or some sort of cotton like growth on her bottom side I have been treating the tank now for 5 days with Melafix as suggested at my local aquarium store and it appears to still be getting worse any suggestions.

That sounds like the fungus that killed my betta. I'm not sure what needs to be done to save the fish I'm afraid.

I have used the Jungle brand Fungus Clear on my fish and it has helped. :chat: That is all I can suggest. And if you have other fish, I would isolate her and treat her with it, as well as treat your other tank for prevention. That way if she needs a second dose, then you won't have to treat both tanks, just the one she is isolated in. :fluffy: :goldfish: :D

I am so sorry for your loss. :o I want to suggest that you still treat the tank she was in, if she was in with other fish, so that you can do a preventive. Just so anyone else in there would still be safe. :crowded: Have a better day! :D

I am sorry about her death, but next time you should try raising the tank water to 81 degrees and doing 20% water changes weekly. I treat my tank with melafix, it's an all natural tea tree remedy. It has always worked for me.
