 I replaced my beta that died with a new one, and my African Albino frog started attacking it and tore up its fins, will the damaged fins heal or grow back? and why did he attack my new one and that the one that he lived with that died? They are suppose to live well together.

Ummm, male bettas will NEVER live nicely together. They are called fighting fish for a reason. They will fight each other to the death. It sounds like you didnt know, so its not your fault. Did the petstore tell you that it was ok? If they did, I would never go back there.

If your surviving betta has wounds go buy some melafix. Its supposed to work really well on healing injuries and such.

Oh, and here's a link to a really awesome betta website: BettaTalk (http://www.bettatalk.com/)

yup what he said,...another thing to consider is making a gallon of water (get a .50$ 1 gal of water), and put 1-2 drops of aquarisol in it,..not to mention a little bit, not much aquarium salt to prevent infection so he can heal, you'll find hat having a gallon jug handy will help alot to have the declorinated/trated water handy helps! Especially in emergencies!

Here is a stupid question..........Did I miss read or did you say that the frog attacked your new Betta, but lived peacefully with the old Betta that died? And if I am understanding you correctly then that being the case, I can't tell you why they aren't living peacefully, but I can tell you that the fins will grow back when you have him safely away from the Frog and maybe add some aquarium salt, stress coat and feed him some frozen/freeze dried/live brine shrimp and pamper him for a few days. :applause:

I have been thrown off by the answer Pippin gave is why I am asking for a clarification. And no, male Bettas do not live with other male Betta's well or with the female Betta either.

Good luck!

Now that I read it again Im confused also. I took it that she put a new betta in with an old one. BUt your're right, it could be that she put a new betta with the frog that used to live nicely with an old betta....

Their fins will grow back, it just takes a little time. Adding the aforementioned meds and stress releiver will do the betta good. But bettas are snobby about food, and if you pamper him for a few days, he might refuse to eat normal food again! :p :yuck: :hyper: :D
