Hello, I havent posted on this forum yet so I will just quickly introduce myself.
Im Rachel and my cat is called Sweep. He is male, black and white! :)

Anyway. I think I'm posting this in the right forum if not then please tell me.
I have recently brang my rabbit indoors to change her into a house rabbit. To start with my cat was terrified of her. But lately he has been climbing on her back and biting her neck. Hes not biting hard but just a gentle nip. I tell him off every time he does this.
Does anyone know why he is doing this? Is it normal behaviour?

Thanks for all the help. xx

Some cats will do this as a dominance behaviour- so perhaps he is feeling a bit 'threatened' and just wants to let your buns know that 'Sweep' is still the king!!

My guess..It is most likely because the cat is curious about the new smell in his environment. If it is male it may try to hump it to establish dominance. LOL kinda funny but true. If the rabbit was concerned or it bothered her, she would attack, rabbits are patient animals but if she gets p!ssed off enough she will show him who is boss..also your cat needs to have more attention given to him..so he knows u arent favoring the rabbit..

Good Luck & God Bless

i just got my first kitten and he disliked my rabbits also. He never bit them or anything but hissed and smacked at them. Im guessing it is normal because rabbits are cats prey. And its only its instincts to treat the rabbit different. I gave my rabbits to my boyfriend so they would not get hurt

My cat did the same thing when I moved my rabbit inside- heres the order of things :)

1. the cat annoys the rabbit
2. The rabbit gets used to it
3. The rabbit gets angry and scratches at the cat
4. After a while of this the cat EVENTUALLY learns not to mess with the rabbit
5. they're capable of being in the same room and ignoring each other. (to a certain degree)

Don't worry about it! :)

my cat and bunnies kinda get along. like what others have already stated, the cat will bother the bunny at first(my kitten always paws their faces, he used to be scared of them, but now he's almost as big as they are). just gotta have patience- now they lay down near each other and eat next to each other when i feed them at the same time (if cat is nice :) ).

Some Cats are very taritorial... So just keep them together.... maybe when the cats relizes he rabbit is staying inside it will accept it...I know someone who has rabbits, cats, dogs and they all get along!....They just cept them together.
