We found this frog in our creek ans we're not sure what it is. That is not a big cricket near, him he's just that teeny tiny! Maybe an inch long if that! The most interesting thing about him is the green Y on his back. If anyone has any idea what this is please let us know.
Thanks!!!

Not sure. But if your going to keep it dont feed it crickets, it obviously cant eat them.

we have been catching small flying insects from our front yard to feed them. That cricket was in there to feed our firebellies. I have since removed them because firebellies are poisonous. Please don't yell at me, I got them out as soon as I found out, and no one died! :) Anyway, we have also found frogs with the same markings but in different colors. So far we have found tan, green, & dark brown. Yes we are weird. All of our friends laugh at us for hunting frogs in our yard and creek, but we do it together and we have fun.

Would it be "right" if we had bought them at Petsmart? How is it okay to buy frogs, but if we
catch one and feed it just like the store-bought ones, it's"...really not right"? I don't understand.
I'm not being mean or rude I hope. We love the way they look, which is why we just purchased a pair of Firebellies. If they werent so darn cute, we wouldnt have bothered. The thing is, there are HUNDREDS of these tiny "yard frogs" in the back corner of our property. We just wanted to know what breed they are. They eat termites and ants just fine. We also have an "Eastern Narrowmouth" that we found. I don't know if you can even BUY these.Frogs are super groovy! You should have seen the giant Bullfrog we released last year! It must've weighed 3 lbs!

No one said its ok to buy from petsmart, they catch them and sell them. So why do the same thing they do? they are wild animals and its not right to take them from their home. Imagine if your a frog in the wild, and being captured by someone just becouse they think your cool looking and stuck in a little tank. If you actually loved these animals you wouldnt do this. You would simply buy a CB animal.

Why a loser? As i see it we have a difference of opinion and lets just leave it at that because at one time ALL animals were wild. You think your dog's whole family has ALWAYS been captive? Be real. At least I'm feeding them and keeping them safe. In my yard they have to deal with cats, dogs, snakes, bigger frogs, lots of stuff they dont worry about in here. I'm sorry I thought I said in here that I was going to release them as soon as I found out but that was in another frog forum. But just so everyone knows we do plan to let them go again now that we know they are Souther Cricket Frogs.

Riiiight. I hate baseball. Ahhhahaha.
Theres a difference, captive bred animals are going to adapt to captivity. Taking a wild animal and putting it in a tank.. How are they suppose to adapt? Let mother nature take its course.. Catching them then feeding them, then releasing them.. You dont think thats a big deal?.
Why not just go herping, take pictures of the ones you do find. :) discussion closed
