I don't have that much room, and I want a bird that will not be soooo loud and noisy, and that will like to be held. Any suggestions?

If you have nothing to say, dont say anything at all.
Parakeets make wonderful begginer birds, they are easy to care for and generally to not have too many health problems. I have 2 at the moment and they can get a bit loud when they are in a flock, but if one bird, it should not be a problem. It's best to get a bird from a breeded since they are pretty much tame.
Good luck~

Did I not just say I keep cockatoos and compared to parakeets, parakeets are lame? They are boring birds!

I don't much like parakeets, just because all the 'keets I've ever been around have been very disgruntled at humans in general, but I'm sure there are nice ones out there. :) I would reccomend a cockatiel or a lovebird. Neither of them are very loud when they're the only bird, and they're both very easy to care for in comparison to the larger birds. Just make sure you do the proper research before buying one! And getting a handfed baby will almost definitely turn out a nicer, tamer bird than a mommy-fed baby.

Name calling? Rofl little girl, learn the things your saying.
How the hell is that name calling? I said PARAKEETS ARE LAME AND BORING. Am I calling any specific berd lame and boring? No.. So child, please.

I think a budgie (parakeet) is exactly what you are looking for. They are relatively quiet, more so than other birds. When hand raised they are very social birds. I do recommend getting two though, so that when you are not home the bird isn't alone.
Another great bird to get is a cockatiel, however they can be a bit louder, especially the males.
I personally don't recommend a lovebird, of all my birds (including my cockatoos) my lovebird is the loudest.

God, youre funny... apparently dumb as well...
It's funny that you called me a child since I'm probably older than you, besides youre the one who cant spell "bird".
I'm done arguing on my behalf.

If your going to argue, I recommend AIM or MSN messenger; or e-mail.
This is a forum for answering questions, we all have our own OPINIONS, what we want is some fact with those opinions. If Reilly122602 thinks parakeets are boring, then so be it.
Miss Kentucky, I too recommend a cockatiel. They can be friendly, especially hand fed/raised from a breeder. Here is a good site to locate a breeder near you:

Woah, I asked a simple question. Settle down and let's just drop it, alright? From my expierence Cockatiels are pretty mean, all of them I've ever come in contact with were mean and bit a lot. And do birds sleep at night also? I mean, I probably won't be able to sleep with birds tweetin'.
KiWi19
10-26-04, 02:52 PM 10-26-04
The reason all of the cockatiels were mean was probably because they didn't know you, and they can be territorial when a stranger approaches them. They will not bite if you tame them, which is of course easier if they are hand-tamed from a breeder. They really are not mean, maybe the ones you saw were previously mis-treated?
Yes, birds do sleep at night. They sleep for 10-12 hours straight and should not wake you up. The concern is actually the other way around, you waking them up. If they do not get their full 10-12 hours of sleep, they can be grumpy and it increases their chance of getting sick.

I agree.. The only cockateil I had that was mean, was pretty much "Wild" we arent sure where she came from. We really thought she was Wild Caught.. But I have no clue, she kinda... Flew away one day :)
If you get a handfed hatchling and spend the time with it im sure you wont have any problems. The simple fact is, all birds make noises. If you dont want a "bird" thats not loud.. Then that leaves you with little choice. My last teil would whistle the same note for HOURS

MissKentucky, I recommend starting a new thread because these two are too immature to stop. We can let them have this thread for their bickering.
Reilly122602, you know what LoveChick is doing right? He's making you angry, it seems to be working.
I recommend both of you read this informative article about trolls: :)

Dosnt go that easy. Im not going to sit here and be called immature and whatever the heck else. You all know damn well who started this. It was MY opinion about not liking parakeets.. As alot of people are in with me on NOT liking parakeets. this immature little monkey is sitting here replying to ALL my threads/posts saying a bunch of BS that I do not need to hear right now. People need to know when to give the crap up.. Even after I tryed to make peace how many times? This is a forum WE ARE ALL STRANGERS TO EACHOTHER, we dont need to be sitting here arguing about nonsence. If you rather waste time out of your life sitting at your computer fighting with someone.. So be it.

Uhh Reilly, I hate to be the one to burst your self-righteous bubble, but you replied right back to LoveChick. Just thought I would point that out.
And I wouldn't call it retarded to set a most-likely domesticated bird free in an unfamiliar place that it will probably die in. I would call that cruel. Cockatiels are from Australia, and I see you are from Texas. And while Australia and Texas may be the same climate-wise, they are certainly not the same fauna-wise. The cockatiel would be alone and scared (and if it was the wintertime it would be freakin' cold). And if it even made it through the first night and didn't get eaten by a raccoon or something, it probably starved to death or got hit by a car or something. So, uh, yeah. Borderline retarded, undoubtedly cruel, in some places illegal.
LoveChick may have started this one (personally, I don't think so) but on every thread that you participate in that I have read, you have freaked out and on occasion swore at whoever it was who was trying to talk with you, even when they were being sickeningly nice. You need to calm down, and perhaps consider growing up a little. It might make things a little nicer around here.

Lmao wow.. Just shut the hell up and get over it.
I was 7yrs old.. I had no control what my dead mother did.. Did i now? The bird was probably WC in the first place. (BTW We saw her a year later doing just fine)
And that has nothing to do with this.
Lovechick SHOULDNT have replied in the tone she did, or shouldnt have replied period. I simply said i do not like parakeets. And of course your going to act like this towards me because you keep parakeets and disagree with me.
Now obviously some of you people have NO lifes to sit on here after I have said THOUSANDS of times to STFU AND GET ON WITH IT!. This is a forum, not worth wasting time fighting on. This is the internet we dont know who one another is so why fight BLAH BLAH BLAH.. Just get over it.
PERIOD. This is over, done, gone, bye bye.
Please dont reply, or ill simply just keep replying back "STHU"

SSHH! You just wanted us not to reply.!
Listen, bottom line is.... Tweezle, I dont know you.. You obviously dont know me. This forum is a community to get to know other pet owners. If you knew who I was, you'd know im not the evil person I seem. Im not here to fight, but if your going to start a fight, im obviously going to end it. Im one who dosnt take any crap.
Im more of a person that trys to get off the topic of fighting, but if you keep going.. Its just going to escalate into a bigger fight where we all end up getting pissed over what someone said on the internet. If we sit here and hold grudges like some people CAUGH... we are just going to continue breaking out in fights. It is so pointless, I cannot stress enough how annoying it is to me, but im not going to sit back and let all this BS be said about me. So please, stop all the drama.. And keep this as a pet/family forum.
That wasn't going directly towards you Tweezle, but to pretty much anyone who reads this.

Aw man, I replied too. :p Well, since I messed up THIS far, I might as well just keep going! :D
Hahaha I thought you were only going to reply with STHU....? It's a little late to try to be mature now.
There you go, getting all bent out of shape again. You should get some kind of hobby to calm yourself down, like yoga or maybe pilates or something like that. :meditate:
I don't think you have any place criticising someone about their "tone" in a reply. You are the rudest person I think I have ever witnessed on this forum, and completely unprovoked, too.
I don't own parakeets. I don't even like parakeets. Just wanted to throw that out there.
And I have read some of your posts because it seems that you feel the need to let EVERYONE know exactly what you think EVERYWHERE. I read (almost) every new post that comes up, just because there's always the off-chance I might learn something. And every time I've seen you reply, it's always a snotty remark (unless you're trying to be mature, like the reply above).
I'm aware this is a forum to get to know new pet owners. It is you who seems not to know that. Swearing at someone isn't quite pet/family friendly, is it? (And before you even ask, some people consider it swearing to take the Lord's name in vain). I wasn't starting a fight, I was merely letting you know what a brat you sound like. And telling someone to "shh shut up just don't reply" and "STHU" and other things like that is not only exceedingly rude, it's ASKING for a reply. Do you think you're the only person in the world who doesn't take crap? You're not. And I guarantee that I can take more crap than you and dish it better. But you know what? I'm not going to. Because as of right now, your slate with me is clean, and whatever is said hereafter will determine my opinion of you. So opinionate away!

I know this stupid thread will probably keep on going, but just wanted to add something in my defense. I have been on this forum for a while now, much longer than majority of these people, and I'm NOT a troll. I also have a right to express my opinion on certain things and it makes my blood boil when "some" people go around calling other animals stupid, its like the whole pittbull thing, people just have that idea that there dogs should be banned just because of the immature and irresponsible owners. Obvioslly Reilly 122602 has his own opinion on things, probably based on other peoples remarks about parakeets. They are sweet little birds who make wonderful pets and just because you think theyre bad, doesent mean its true. Dont be so streotypical, but as I mentioned previously, try to open your mind to new views and ideas, maybe you'll like it. There was another person on this forum who said that all cats are ugly and dumb, well turns out, cant arent so bad after all, and now this person own a kitten who she/he loves very much.
I'm done fighting on this forum, I know there will be people with different opinions, but you have to grow up and stop swearing. I'm sure there are people here who know me as an animal-loving and caring person and I could care less about the ones who dont.
Ciao~
