Hey!
I've never took lessons before. But my horses have taught me everything that I know about horses. They are my best teachers!
What is it like in England? I've never been there before.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Over here you have to go to Racing Collage. I went to the Northern Racing Collage in Doncaster and only when you pass your NVQ Level 1 in Horse Care can you get a placement on a racing yard.

Hey.
How'd you get interested in riding race horses? I've always wanted to ride racers so much exspecially Man 'O' War. I don't know if you have heard of him or not. If you don't I can tell you everything about him.lol Hey, I can be a Man 'O' War Walking Encyclopedia.lol He died in 1947 but I wish I could've bee alive back then. That would've been so much fun. What's your favorite race horse?
Hope to hear from you soon!

I wanted to be in the Grand National.
My fav race horses are :-
Red Rum (won GN 3 times and Came 2nd Twice)
Desert Orchid
Aldaniti
One Man
Also a few I rode - San Micheal Gar, Drowning Bubbly, Music Express and 1 I looked after called Mr.Fortywinks (Tommy, used to keep me in the stable until I gave him a wither scratch)

I was just curious Psycho, whats your take on steeplechasing? I had a trainer tell me she wished it was outlawed due to the amount of jockey and horse deaths it caused every year. I know its very popular in England. What do you think?

It's actually quite strict.
I love it. Horses must be at least 5 years old (normally 7 to 10) and be really fit. If there not fit enought there refused entry.
All have to have a vetting before and after the races.
Jumps have to "give" a little when knocked and be under a certain height.
Also they have a maxinum nuber of entries allowed per race.
It's the Grand National that's the worse and the number of entries could do with comming down.
Oh and Steeple chasing is called National Hunt racing over here. :D

I guess our eqiuvalent is cross country (which personally, scares the life out of me just watching it! I bet the horses have fun though).
I've seen a bit of steeplechasing on tv and read a little about it. Well now you've educated me more on a subject I knew little about.
Thanks alot!

Cross Country over here is where you have to jump a course of natural obsticals within a set time. Horses go round one at a time.
Famous courses are Burghly and Badminton.
Here is all about the Badminton one.

Badminton is a 3 day event. This covers Showjumping, Cross Country and Dressage.

Our cross country is the same, I think our biggest competition is Fair Hill or the Rolex Kentucky. We recently had one in my hometown called Red Hills Horse Trials, I didnt go. David O'Connor's horse died at that event, it was so sad.

That is sad. No horses have died over here yet and hope none ever do.

It wasnt rider error, the horse had a heart attack and just keeled over.

In that case it wasn't fit enought to be ridden or too old. The first vet check should of found that out.
Must be terrable tho.

The vet check beforehand was fine, they arnt really sure why he had one. He was only 15 years old. I havent seen an article concerning the necropsy or I'd have more info for you.
