Currently I have 2 7-year old cats who are sisters (Cupcake and Smokey) who have lived with us since they were 2 months old. They were never socialized as kittens, and now are very friendly with the people in my family, but not with strangers or even each other.

We've been trying to get another cat for a little while, our first two fosters didn't work out, but now we have a 3-year old female named Thelma who we are keeping. She loves other cats, is very submissive (rolls over infront of them to show that she's not threatening) and tries to keep out of their way most of them time. They obviously don't like her, but are getting better (Smokey and Thelma slept on the same bed last night, although on completely different sides).

Now, cutting to the chase(sorry the story is so long):
Cupcake has started peeing in my room, specifically on my bed. I can't figure out why because since I'm her favorite person in the house, my bed is always where she sleeps and spends a lot of her time. She's done it before with the other foster cat who chased her, but never on my bed (I've been sleeping on the floor the past 2 nights). Their litter pan is in the basement, and I don't think it's because she's getting older that she's not using it. Could it be that she doesn't want to worry about running into Thelma on the way down? Would getting another litter box upstairs help? She is my baby and I just want her to be happy, but I don't want to have to kick Thelma out since she's such a good cat and really needed a home.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, please help.

Always take a cat which wee's out their box to the vets.
Your cat may have an UTI, an easily treated but fatal if left untreated infection.

Thanks for the help, I doubt it's UTI since she's been going in the pan other than those 2 instances in about 2/3 weeks, but I'll have to keep my eye open anyways. At the time I thought we were aclimating our other cats to Thelma pretty well...but now after reading up on it, it seems we've skipped some steps. There are a few techniques that I can probably still use, hope it works. Thanks PIF.

I would get a litter pan for your bedroom. She is not doing this to you out of spite she may need a check up from the vet. She may be marking her spot too, make sure you clean the area real well. And is she fixed??? That may help too.

We were considering putting a pan in the bathroom that's across from my room, so she could get to it easier. Territory came to mind also when it first happened, but wouldn't it only be a little if it was just marking territory, and isn't that mostly males anyways? We cleaned out the area with stuff that's specially for cat urine and doused the bed with it, then covered it with a water-proof bed cover. She is spayed, I'd never let one of my animals go un-spayed with the risks of getting pregnant and adding to all the homeless animals or dying of cancer.

Right now I'm going with the idea that it's stress related, but if it keeps on after all potential solutions have been exhausted, a vet visit will be in order. Thanks everyone for all the help.
