My baby Pats was reasently put to sleep because of Kidney failure. Her body was slowly filling with toxins and she wasn't able to eat or rid herself of wastes. SHe was only 8 and the Vet said it may be genetic.
My other cat is her sister but from a diffrent litter I was wondering if any one has information on feline Kidney problems so I can watch for early signs in my cat.
Thanks.

What you can do now is get her on a better diet. Lots of moist canned food. This will help keep the organs flushed and urinary tract cleaned. Also have a cbc test done at the vets. This is a complete blood count. This will detect early signs of problems, It's a way of looking at the enternal systems of the pet. Urinary test will help also.

Know also that there are revisions in vaccines. Indoor cats really dont need anything after one year old depedning on circumstances. If you still vaccinate the revsiions call for it to be every 3 years instead of yealry. However the yearly vet check is still called for.

Both my cats have been on Vet recomended food since they were kittens. We take them yearly for check ups but seeing as the problem was linked to genetic I felt helpless. I'll be sure to take the steps you recomended. even if I can lessen the chances of anything bad happening to my Izzy it's better then pacing around praying she didn't inherit the gene.
