Before you jump into anything make sure you know what youre doing. Sounds to me like you dont have too much experince, so its best to start out with taking lessons for at least 2 years until you feel secure and comfortable riding and handling horses. Big advice, read, read and read, a lot of horse books , you can find the basic info in almost every book. I really like "horse for dummies" great basic info. Horses require a lot of care and theyre a lot of responsobility. Its not like you can get a horse, stick it in the back yard and ride occasionally. Horses need qulity pasture, feed and hay, daily turnout and exercise, plus you will need think about all the monthly costs that will add up, like shoeing/trimming, worming, overall health checks, vaccines, dentist. The avarge cost for a horse will be in a range of $3-5000, depending on the horse training, ege, breed, etc. But the cost of the horse is only a fraction of the upkeep. Horse are expensive animals to keep, so its best to keep board a horse in a nearby facility if you have little experince.
My advice for you know:
1) Take riding lessons in a discipline you like
2) Try helping at the barn to see whats involved in taking care of a horse, do things like cleaning stall, leading, tacking up, grooming, etc.
2) Try to do a lot of reserach, books, internet other horsey forums like newrider.
See if you feel the same way in a year or so.

good luck~

1) A registered or unregistered QH? What gender? What color? Unbroken or broken? How old? Special traits? Special discipline?
I would say anywhere from $300 to $100,000.

2) I would say two acres per horse plus a shelter, a water trough, a feeder, and a mineral block. You would also need a place to store all of the equipment that you would clean the shelter out with, the water trough and feeder, a saddle and bridle and saddle pad and grooming supplies.
