Exotic Petstore

Hello in the future I am very much wanting to open a exotic pet store it would be the coolest thing to do and I know alot about animals and own alot I have a hedgehog and have breed them accidently once and I have a ball python,Iguana,and a sugar glider.I was just wondering what I would need to do to open an exotice pet store when I get out of school I am only a freshmen in highschool but this is really somthing I wanna do when I get older.

P.S. My specialty knowledge wise is reptiles and amphibians although I know alot about small rodent liek animals like hedgehogs and sugar gliders also but I would be big into selling reptiles and stuff like sugar gliders maybe a little bit of fish.Rabbits,Chinchillas ect...

Well that is a long ways down the road, dont you think you should worry about college first to earn a career that will lead towards paying for your pet store?

You don't need to go to college to get a career that will pay for your pet shop. If you do that, there is a great danger that you will get so caught up in the demands of your job that you will never start the pet shop.

He's what 20? He has a whole lot of years ahead of him to start a pet shop.

He can't be at his age and open a pet store, the success rate of pet stores isnt always the greatest. Most pet stores around here go out of business within the first 1-3 years.

What do you suppose he does if that happens? Work at mcdonalds?

You still should have a career lined up.

Yeah well my dream thing to be would be a zoologist but I dunno and lol im not 20 im only 14 so I got a really long time but better plan really early and find out stuff so I can just get better and better right?

Couldnt hurt to take some business courses, as well as something in the area of animal care.
