When i found out i had a male and female in the same cage i split them up... well yesterday the female had babies... and i got online to research today and found out your suppose to leave the male in the cage w/ the femal and babies... so should i put the male back into the cage with the femal and pups or just not worry about it?

yea... thats why i was wondering if i could put him back in...cuz i dont want him to be lonely!... but last the same femal had pups she got overwhelmed with all of them (14) and ste a bunch of them...so i was thinking the male could make it so she wouldnt get overwhelmed...but maybe not... though because she only had 6 this time... and she didnt even eat any... and that's the same amount we were left w/ last time...

Dwarfs can have up to 20 babies in one litter, although she does reduce the amount by quite a bit.

yes they're dwarfs and i know i thought that was alot too... she can only handle about six though... so...she ate some out of the last litter... i dont understand how the numbers can be so dramatic though...maybe it was because the last litter was a diff male... and ive decided not to put the male back in with her... i really dont want anything to happen to my pups... ive got homes lined up for them so if something was to happen to them i know a few people that would be very sad and dissapointed...

When my dwraf hammie had babies she had 11..she ate one and 2 died....the rest are ok exept 2 females are blind and 1 male...but they are still adorable,...I tried putting the father hamme near the mothers cage and she freaked out starting squaking and tried to bite him...sigh,,,,so i keep em seperated

I had a Syrian who had a litter of 12 - a surprise from the pet store. I kept them all. After two years, three are still living.
Good luck with your dwarfs.

sorry if that was off the topic so here is one of my suggestions: Do the best you can and even if you can't re-introduce the father while then at least you tryed thats all that counts right?
