i kept the only female from my first litter which was about july of last year... well she is really wild so i didnt want to give her away until i could calm her down...but ive been working with her about one a week and she isnt getting any better... i still have to chase her around the cage to get her out which takes about 10 mins each time... then i cant handle her w/ out gloves because she bites so hard it draws blood...she makes noises...and she also trys to jump out of my hands... is there anything i can do? help...please...i really feel bad that she cant socialize w/ me like my other babies! :(

Try feeding her treats, with your hand in the cage so she knows that it's you who feeds her goodies. 1 weeks isn't enough for some rather wild hamsters. I had to work about more than a month with one of my hamsters I've had in the past before he got tamed. I don't have enough experience with nippy hamsters so I'm not really helpful ^.^; Maybe someone else could help you more!

Sounds like my male dwarf hammie Pebbles...I cant put my hand in his cage to pick him up with out getting bite....But when he is out he is ok....Last week I let him run around in his ball and he had fun...I went to put him back in his cage and he decided to climb back out into my hands...Now he never did this before becasue he was nippy all the time...So i tried something,,,I put him back into his cage and voila he climebed out again..I was happy so then i took it a step further and tried to pet him in his cage and man did he chomp down on my thumb,,,I guess He needs some more time hehehe
