yes i have a few questions my girlfriend has 3 mares by me and my husband and i feed them for her cause she works and lives 45 min. away so we are right here with them so we feed them she buys the food and she has them on oats and 12% pellets and hay varity of hays well i was always taught to feed a horse 2 scoops of feed per horse so i feed them 1 scoop of oats and 1 scoop of 12% pellets and i give them 1/2 bail of hay in the morning and 1/2 at night well now she is saying that we are feeding them to much. how much hay should 4 horses get they weigh 1,000 lbs to 1,300 pounds and 3 are mares and one stallion. they were neglected back in may and now they are looking like horses are suppose to look like and now all of a sudden she says we are feeding them to much how much should i feed them of the oats and pellets and hay someone please give me some advice. i need help. i will not let them starve so i am willing to hear what someone has to say if they know alot about horses.

Hi, I don't mean to complicate things, but if the horses are skinny, they can have about what you are giving them. I cannot tell you what to feed them because that varies greatly about how the horses are, if they have alergies, coat problems, and much more details. If they are ok on what they are eating, and are not too skinny or fat, they are fine. Tell your friend that she should not change their feed, that could cause health problems. Leave them alone. If she is not convinced, ask a vet about it.

If youre unsure about these things, I strongly advice calling out a vet and asking him.
