very sad loss

I found my Dwarf hammie Candy dead this moring in her cage...I went to get her nails clipped yesterday and when I got back hime with her she was acting strange she was having labored breathing..I called the vet back but they were closed and then I found 2 emergency vet ..I called them and they told me she was stressed out and I should just leave her alone in her cage and keep the room warm..I did that and when i checked on her a 3 am she was sleeping her breathing seemed abit better so i thought all was well...When my g/f went to check on her at 8:30 in the moring she found her dead in her sleeping area...I feel really bad like I should have never took her out to the vet..it was very cold on that day..I warmed the car up for awile and put her in her cariier and put a towel around her to keep drafts out...I thought i did everything ok...I loved little hammie so much...for such a small crature she had at of love to give and made me feel better when i was down...I would pick her up and i would feel better...but one good thing is I have 8 of her babies....she left me with those and i am very greattful...I love them all....I will miss her but wont forget... :(

Oh, I'm sorry! I hope you don't feel like it's your fault. You didn't know how she would react, and it also could have been unrelated to the vet visit. Maybe something else was wrong with her and the timing was coincidental.

I know..my g/f tells me the same thing..its just very difficult...but what i find hard to accept is that she was running in her ball the night before and also chewing on the bars for me to pick her up...she was special

I had a hammie the same thing happened to about a year back..i took him to the vet, and brought him back. he was a lil hysterical...I found him dead the next day, so i had a autopsy done..turns out he had some liver failure..and died..chances are it is just coincedental...i know you loved your hammie but it isnt your fault, all u gave that hammie was love, and it had a great home with u, better for her to go now, rather then suffer..I hope everything is okay with u, if u want u can e-mail me tiamaria@shaw.ca Take care of Candy's babies, they will love u as much as she did!

I just wanted to say thanks a million. When I found Candy dead in the morning Misty1964 felt like it was all his fault. I kept trying to say it wasn't but sometime you have to hear it from someone else.

No problem..I know it couldnt possibly be Misty's fault he is way to good with his hammies. His advice rocks..and sometimes sad things happen..Sorry for your loss once again..

Just wanted to say tha to all who wrote to me...It made me feel better about what happened to my hammie Candy..I still do miss her alot,,,Im taking care of all of her babies which are all adorable...But i still having problems playing with them becase they remind me so much of their mom.....sigh....right now i have the 9 of them running around in their hammies balls...its a sight to see heheh :)
