I just got a very light brown clolored fluffy hampster (not sure which breed it is) but i know its a she. well ive had her for about a month now and shes still scared to climb onto my hand. ive tried putting treats on my hands and just leaving my hand in the cage but she just ignores me or runs away to run on her wheel.
she isnt scared of me because at night i take her out (i lift the wheel up when shes just sitting in it) and let her crawl around on me and my bed while im watching tv. just wondering if anyone has any ideas to help me out.

Some hamsters are just more nervous about coming up to you. Sounds like she likes you. Just give her some time.

Sounds like she might be a Syrian hamster also know in pet stores as a Teddy Bear Hamster..They are pretty nervous creatures u have to be slow, and talk softly and handle her alot..she will warm up to u..just give her sometime.

I was just curious so i peeked into your info and i noticed that it says your certified in Animal Behavior, I am interested in studying that or something similar after i graduate from high school and was just wondering what it takes to do that and if its offerend in college and if theres anything else i need to take with it

I took it when my vet suggested it..im in canada so i dont exactly know how other people would go about doing it. I had trouble with one of my cats, and my vet suggested animal behavior classes..now down here...u normally pay 100$ and take the course which is a 3 months course with just test material. After all that u have another 4 months of working with animals..ive also got involved in specific cat and dog territorial behavior (long courses)..which was a very cheap seminar, for both i payed 50$..talk to your vet and discuss what u want to do, most vets know this information because there volunteers go to these courses to be trained. Im sure your vet will have all the information you need.

Oh thank you very much, i will definetly talk to my vet and see what the deal is with it in Maine, because it sounds extreamly interesting. i work at an animal shelter and i think it would be of great value to know about

It is especially working or volunteering at a animal shelter..it lets u know what the animals behavior is like..and how to respond to this animal and calm it down before it injures u or itself..

All i can say is teddy bear hamsters are very nervous and another thing is never lift up the whell because then they have no choice but to come onto ur hand.
If they run into ur bed do not take the bed out give them several choices and never take out there bed anyway becasue it is there privasy place....
