I have had my hamster Petunia for about a month. A couple of days ago I noticed some green smushy poop in her cage. I took it out and cleaned everything well. I have not noticed the poop again, but today I noticed the cage top was steamy so I opened it up. It looked like she had wet all over the timothy hay she puts in the viewing deck to sleep on. It was kind of milky white or cloudy. I am deathly afraid it could be wet tail, but she is as active as ever. As we speak she is gnawing on the bars in her cage. I don't know what to do? What do you guys think? Could this be wet tail or is she just peeing in her bedding?

Wet tail is usually rather ovious. Diarrhea will be matted all around the anus and tail area, the hamster will also be lethargic and stop eating and grooming. Hamsters who have wet tail usually die from dehydration. Very quickly too.

Hamster pee is usually a milky color though and can steam up plastic houses very quickly. I am thinking your hamster justed peed in her bedding in the "viewing deck".

Soft, green poop is sometimes from eating to many veggies. What have you been feeding her? Although if you suspect wet tail I would definitely call a exotic vet.

I have been feeding her the hamster food made by kaytee..it's called fiesta. It has these big green things in it so that's what made me think it was the food, she didn't used to eat them before but now has so that could be the culprit. Thanks for the clarification on the pee...makes me feel better!
