My friend is really starting to annoy me. Whenever I collect hamster things she always says I need to grow up. Then when she sees a ferret thing she is happy and buys it. I don't get her sometimes. We rarely fight but she is really getting on my nerves. Its like she thinks her collecting of ferret stuff is mature and my hamster collection is not. Does it really matter if it is or not. I feel like saying it back to her a lot of times for the way she acts. For example I bought a hamster calendar, she acts like its stupid of me to waste my money. Yet when she sees a ferret calendar she wants to buy it. Help any way to stop her from saying stuff.

Ok, get this...
I'm 26 years old, and recently lost my Hamster. He was with me for 2 years and I loved him to bits. I would take a trip to the pet shop at least once every week, mostly more often, and if I saw a new toy that I knew he would like, I would buy it for him. If I went to a large supermarket, I would head toward the pets section just to have a nose around.
Now that made me really happy, knowing that buying stuff for my little Hammy would make him happy, in the same way you buy gifts for humans that they will appreciate.
After I lost Hammy, I bought two gerbils, and I do exactly the same thing for them.
I recently asked my mum and dad to buy me a Hamster calendar this Christmas, and they have.
If anyone wants to call all the above sad or childish, let them. I really don't care. Buying stuff for my pets makes me happy because I know that I've earnt the money to provide for them.
So no, you're not childish, and it's down to you what you spend your money on. You go for it!!

Your "friend" is not a friend or she would never be so insulting and judgemental.
Tell her to knock it off or get lost. I am serious.
I have 19 gerbils here, 12 Syrians, 5 dwarfs, 5 mice, and a bunny. I am an adult male, and anyone who doesn't like it can kiss my butt. I am secure in who I am and what I do, and as I spend five days a week lifting weights at the gym no one is going to give me flack.
So be confident in who you are.

No real friend tries to make you feel bad for doing something that makes you happy, as long as no one is getting hurt in the process. Your so-called friend is the one who sounds immature, not you. If she feels you are wasting your money buying hamster goodies, tell her, since she isn't paying the bill, it's your money to waste on whatever you please.

No Offence meant but shes not a bad friend. TTGerbils she isn't making me feel bad just annoying me. Shes a good friend other then that. I don't think she realizes that shes basicly saying shes imature too when she says I shouldn't collect hamster things. Also, tamsworld I wasn't talking about things for my hamster to use, I was talking about like:cards, stuffed animals, toys, calendars, shirts, cups etc.. Basicly anything to do with hamsters. My friend and I get along really well, cept for that.

Well, whether you're buying stuff for your pets or just stuff with hamsters on, it's still not immature so all I can advise is to try not to worry about it.
For some reason people seem to think that hamsters are just for children, but that's not true.
As I said before, buy what you like, it's your money and you're the one who will get enjoyment out of it... ;)

Hamsters rock! Tell your friend SHE's the one that needs to grow up! Zouave is totally right, anyone of any age and sex can have hamsters (or any other pet) and shouldn't feel little kiddish!

I would try to avoid buying hamster things when she's around. Secondly, if she calls it immature while shopping for hamster things again, tell her thats it your money and you can spend it on what you want (like someone said). Just like she spends money on ferret stuff. If she's a real friend, she'll accept that.
