Anyone ride a horse before? I did and I will never forget the feeling of freedom and riding on the hills with the winds blowing against your face.

It truly is a wonderful experience to be alone with your horse in the forrest covered mountains around here were I live(Oregon). All my worries would melt away as the sound of the cars and such would fade into the distance. The forrest animals did not seem threatened by me when I was on top of my horse and we would come apon bear, deer, bunnys and even a cougar or two. Right now I do not have the time that a horse needs so I am horseless at least until my youngest starts kindergarten..she is three now. But the day will come when I get another horse (or more likely two.) Marianne

Ahh yes I remeber that feeling well. It has been over a year since I last got to ride but 2 years ago I was riding almost everyday. I miss it alot but I hope to start riding again on Saturdays not that I will have off on those days. As angelfire said it feels wonderful to have the days and weeks worth of stress left from your shoulders as you ride on such a powerful horse. I have ridden Souci and Arab/QH mare for 5yrs and she just loved my messing with her. She would be out in the field when I would pull up the drive and nicker and come trotting to the fence. Knowing that if she did a good job at the end she would get some apple treats.
Now her owner could no longer take care of her so she is a HeartLand Riding School for the disabled. But I have been told on Saturdays she need riding so I am welcome to go ride every Sat if I want. I can't wait for the first time in a while. She is such sweet mare.

Souci (see my post above) is now home where she belongs. At the age of 10 she was just to young to be working with disabled people. She was pinning her ears back (a sign of aggressian sp?) whenever someone would get on her. So the asked her owner if she wanted her back and since her health has returned she was able and willing to take her home. So now I will be able to go ride after work if I want to. Just as soon as it stops RAINING!!. I am so excited. For those of you who have never been able enjoy a ride I would highly recomend it.
