Hi, I have a really big problem...
See, I have an older sister who is 16, I just turned 14 litterally one week ago. We don't get along fabulously like we used to when we were younger. The point is, about four years ago I became a "horse crazed" little girl. I begged for months to get lessons at a stable called Rock Creek Park Horse Center. I live in DC. Soon enough for my tenth birthday I got to ride once a week. I was fasinated. My only previous expirence was riding once a week at my best friends house, she had three horses, and her mom was teaching me. I had a BLAST. I guess I can always blame Jen for my obsession. Well, when I started at Rock Creek, I knew no one, and was shy. riding was hard because lets just say, "I got worked".
My sister, being related and stuff heard me talking about this ex-race horse I love to this day named Trooper. She decieded if I could do it, of course she could do it too. With no effort my parents agreed to give her lessons! I was a bit annoyed that the thing I loved more than anything was being invaded so easily! Well, she rides too now, but my parents begged to get her in my lessons because they didn't want to take two trips to the barn. She rides a perfect little pony named Bertha, who is easy to say the least. Trooper is NOT. He is unpredictalbe, being an ex-race horse. He's also seven Berthat being like 13 or something. I can't say much more other than she thinks she is much better than me, and I taught her all the skills she needed to take her lessons. My Bat Mitzvah present was a horse and she now is like, "I want one too!"
To say the least, I am ANNOYED!!! What should I do?

As hard as it might seem I think the best thing to do is to stop thinking competitively. My sister and I are best friends (despite the age difference, I'm 24 and she's 16) But she doesnt love horses the way I do..infact she wont step foot in a stables. I really wish however that she were into the things I am because we could hang out so much more and I wouldnt be riding by myself all the time. You and your sister taking lessons together could be so much fun. Just accept the fact that she's in your lessons and compliment her on her growing skills. It really doesnt matter who's the better rider.
