Looking for a shelter or rescue

I have a huge problem. My friend's sister's boyfriend has a barn full of guinea pigs (25+) and the father is sick of them. He's threatening to poison them all to get rid of them. The boyfriend is trying his best to hold off their execution, but it won't change his mind.

I'm trying to find a rescue or adoption agency to take them where they won't be put to sleep. He gave me one of them, a silver agouti, and he's very sweet. If anyone out there knows of any such organization or place around central NY that could help me out, I'd be extremely grateful. (I'd take them all if I could, but I already have 10, plus the expected babies....and I swear, if that man does them in, I'm pressing charges and I hope he gets put away.)

Just go to Google and type in your location and guinea pig rescue...hopefully you can find one near you. If not, maybe the Humane Society?? Add in the paper?? Local pet stores MIGHT take them...I worked at PetCo and we took unwanted pets all the time. Especially, younger, healthier ones. Also, you can put up free ads at PetCo I think. Good luck!! I live south of Syracuse, NY. We don't have a petco, and I guess the guy already tired to give the critters to some local pet stores, but they would only take to babies. I'm not too surprised either...I took one of them, a 1.5 year old named mouse, and he's kind of skinny and skidish. If the other ones are worse off then it'll be a hard time looking for places that'll take them. Thanks for the ideas! I'll try the things you suggested.

LOL...I was going to e-mail her your phone number and e-mail address Marci!! I found you on Google or something and was going to say hey, this rescue is pretty close. I'm glad it all worked out. I feel so helpless sitting here in the middle of nowhere.
