Zelda has seperated the pups into 2 nests. One has 5 and the other has 3. I am wondering why. Any ideas? do I put them back together? Should I get a warming lamp? If so, what do I get? The older girls are keeping them warm but, not as much as mom does.

Hi Marc, I have several females who do this. Especially when they have bigger litters. Just check on them often and make sure that both nests are covered at least until they get fur on them. Supply them with a lot of toilet tissues to make fluffy nests with. The more you give them, the more they will use! Here a pic of mine in two seperate litters. Good luck with them and post some pics. We love baby pics.

They do have lots of tissue and are well covered. I just got home from work and mom moved them all together again. The older were keeping them warm. I did notice that they were nursing today (the older pups).

I noticed that with mine too, the daughter that I left from the first litter to help the mom with the second litter started to nurse again with the new babies. Has anyone else had this happen?
