I am moving from southern California to North Carolina. I have a 3 yr old potbellied pig along with 2 horses, 2 dogs, and a cat. I have received some great advice about moving the other animals but I am still wondering how to transport the pig. If there is a good, safe way to do this, I really want to take her with me. If anyone has had experience with something like this, I would love to hear from you. Thank you.- Jen

I transported my pig from South Carolina to Maryland and our family put her in a kennel and let her ride in the car with us. It worked well.

Thank you for letting me know. I don't have room in my truck, but I am considering renting a trailer. I am still working on a plan.

Good Luck with that. Parting with your pig is such terrible sorrow.

take care

My question to this is, will the pig always poop while in the car. We just got ours today and while transporting, the pig was sleeping. When we got home we found a big surprise in her blanket. What is the best way to transport without the poop making a mess. She is 4 months old.

Well, Abigail Jane, my adorable piggie, also pooped while traveling. I found that it helped to stop every once in a while and give her a potty break. However, she sometimes will still have trouble in the controling the pooping thing. Abigail gets scared easily and when shes scared she poops. This may be what is wrong with your piggie. Try giving them things to be occupied with and talk to them on your trip so they know you are there... if not, just make sure you stop to let them use the restroom. I hope this helps:)
