Nephew went to have a look at him and hammie made really strange noises and was breathing strange. Its hard to explain the noise i'm afraid, but i have never heard it before. Can anyone give me advice? Hammie is 1yr 4mnths. Tha

He might have a resperatory problem... What kind of bedding are you using for him? becuase some types of bedding are harmful to hamsters and give them breathing problems. It could also be from being in a dusty place.

How long have you had the hamster? You might want to observe your hammie for a little while. If the strange breathing is constant then it's probaly a respitory issue like Hammysrme said. If the noise only happens when people approach, it could be he's agitated in some way. Can you try to descrive the noise?

Had hammie for 1 yr and 4 months.
Since i typed thread i haven't noticed the noise again. It was more of a noise from the back of his throat.
Yea, i think he was agitated and annoyed that he was woken up.
Just was a strange noise thats all and have never heard it before, like he was trying to tell my nephew to go away.

I have watched him last nite and he was fine.
Tha for ure help and advice.

Thats great new, maybe he was just grinding his teeth, saying he felt threatened and to back off..?!
