It's with a heavy heart that I even write this post. I realize that I have to sell two of my sugar gliders. They are sisters, though not of the same litter, both intact, from breeding lines. Their birthdates are 3/03 and 6/03. This pair was given to me last year, pets bought for a small child who had no concept of the responsibility that comes with caring for such a pet. Shortly after, when I was given my second pair of gliders (including a pregnant momma) I unfortunately was forced to spend more time with their care. I don't feel as though it's fair for the other girls not to receive the same amount of attention and as I'm in the process of organizing a dog rescue out of my home, I can't deny any longer that they would be better off elsewhere.
The glider girls are very intelligent. They are hand-tame, they like to eat from my hands and be stroked, though they are still iffy about being picked up and held. The previous owner told me that she could hold them both without a problem, so chances are good that they just need to bond more with a new owner before they'll allow that sort of intimacy. They absolutely love to climb all over their person, I bring them into my bathroom, as there is no chance of escape if they are loose in there, and they climb on my shoulders and head and play. They say it's a great compliment from a glider if they use you as their "tree". :)
I am asking $300 firm. This includes a 5' tall x 2 1/2' wide (approximate) cage plus all of the accessories: bonding pouch, sleeping pouch, hammock, climbing ropes, apple branches, water bottle, food dish and lots of toys. Gliders do need to eat a particular diet, and if you are interested I'll give you a write-up of some of the girls' favorite things.
I am more than happy to answer any questions you have at all about the girls. Please email me at NYSugarBabies@yahoo.com. I live about 40 minutes SouthWest of Albany, NY.
