My Chinese Dwarf Hamster, Nugget is about 2 1/2 years old. Lately (as of recent) she's been acting weird. Curling up in a corner and shaking. Also she just now not to long ago, was on her back squealing. Until my friend had picked her up. She's done it twice and hasn't been running around as much in her wheel. She just now started squealing once more.
Please some advice!!!!

I don't know too much about hamsters, but you don't have to think the worst. Maybe he's sick or something. I wish I could really help but all I can tell you is what you probably thought of, ask the vet. You might be able to get an answer over the phone by a secretary without having to pay for an appointment. Hope he's ok!

Thanks, It's kind of hard at the moment to get a hold of someone since it's late for me. But It's sort of scary, because not only has she been squealing its been the breathing she's had. Slow and rocking.

How is she doing now? I had a dwarf hamster who used to have seizures, and it sounds similar to what would happen to him at times.

Diabetes maybe?! Dwarves are pretty prone to it, and it could cause seizures like that.

She's doing ok now, a little better than last night. Was on her wheel a few times, and when i checked up on her she made the squealing noise and glared x.x. She's been burrowing herself into a corner (which i think should be pretty normal) But every now andthen the breathing thing occurs when she curls up and shakes while breathing slowly.
And your suggestion was my younger sisters as wel.

Have you been feeding her thing with sugar in them?

You can get glucose test strips from the pharmacy to test their urine. I had a hamster who had seizures every few weeks, but he didn't have diabetes.
Is she still eating?

Hey everyone, thank you everyone. Nuggets back to recovery of what it looks like. She hasn't had seizers for almost 2 days. ^-^ She's on her wheel like she normally was as well. All I did was give her chopped up carrots and had my sister put Spikes (our guiena pig) spare Salt wheel in her cage. Ever since she's been normal.
