ok, i need help on this one. my boyfriend has a betta. and up until last night he seemed really happy and chilled out. well all morning he has been swimming back and forth, back and forth and flaring his gills, or whatever they are called on a betta. you know...the thing they do when they are mad and about to fight? anyway...he won't stop doing that. seems like he is really mad about something. he can't see his reflection in anything...so what could be the problem??

sorry superjack, bettas are not my forte...
Nothing new?....new food? new items in or near his environment?...no new de-chlorinator?
Regular water changes? What size tank./bowl is he in?
Just trying to cover all the bases. Now if he was gnashing his teeth or attacing th eplastic plants, THAT I could help you with... :D

I think he is seeing the reflection of himself on the tank sides. Its perfectly normal and is evidence of a healthy betta. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

I agree, he's seeing his own reflection. It's common with all fish really but the betta thinks it's ANOTHER male and is ready to kick his butt! My betta does it too.
Nothing to worry about!
