Does anyone know where i can get a decent hamster wheel? or know of a decent make?

I bought one from 'Pets at Home' (which i think is like Petsco to our American friends) and it was really flimsy and split apart straight away. I took it back but they didn't really have any other types apart from a 'Micro Ball' which looked tiny! i doubt my fluffbag would fit in it!. I then bought one from a local pet shop but the lid has holes in it that are big enough for Jeremy to put his nose through and bite things i.e wallpaper, carpet, shoes etc!! plus the lid is very easy for him to push off.

I'd like to get him a better one that is quite secure. Any help appreicated!

Don't get a wheel with bars! That could brake your hammy's leg! If you have a wire cage, get a Crittertrail wheel. Or the best one you could get would be... hmm.... Why can't I rememer the name! It is a "Bubble Wheel" with 5 or 6 large holes in it for your hammy to crwal into to run.... Anyway don't get a wheel with bars!

I've got two types from pets at home - one comes complete with a stand so you can put it inside the cage, which is a really useful alternative to the racket the wheel makes on wire cages.
the one which came with a stand is slightly more expensive (i think it was about £3.99) but it is made out of 'softer' plastic, so when they crash into a wall it doesn't crack, as the harder plastic ones tend to. They are exactly the same size otherwise, and I have never found any alternatives to that design in the UK.
By the way, those microballs are for dwarves - I don't think a Syrian could move in one!

THe problem with balls breaking tends to happen when they keep crashing into the wall, door, etc at speed. I try to put soft barriers in strategic places, as apart from the ball breaking I worry it could also frighten them when they crash
