I read somewhere that dwarf Hamsters are happiest when kept in pairs. is this true.

they tolerate pairs, and are sometimes happy in pairs, and are happy alone.

Its a mix, they can live together, or seperated all depends on there temperment.

Depends on the individual hamster. They're all perfectly content with being alone, but if they don't mind having another hammy occupy some of their space then they're fun to watch when they play.

There are a lot of risks putting hamsters together that don't like company. Sometimes it's very difficult to determine whether they are playing with each other or fighting. If you're planning on putting two or more together and you're not absolutely positive on how to do it, just ask. I know a lot about pairing hamsters and even how to make a hamster that doesn't like company get along with others. (I studied this for many months after I got my first hamster as I really wanted to have my hamsters in one big cage.) The biggest thing to remember is that if hamsters don't get along, there is a big chance that they never will. Don't force it, just be content that they would rather be alone.

Again, if you want to know how to tell which hamsters can be put together, and how to do so, just ask and I'll be more than happy to share all of the knowledge I possess.

i'm interested in knowing how to figure out which ones will get along.. we're thinking of getting hammies, either one big one or maybe a couple of dwarves and it would be nice to pick a pair that will get along if we go for dwarves.

Try to get siblings that already live together. I think but I'm not sure that sometimes females live better with other females then males and males? Someone correct me on that.

really?? cuz i'd heard that males did better together when it came to hammies???
i know girls get on better in mice, but somewhere i'd picked up that males were more likely to co-habitate in hammies??
