i got a hamster a couple of months ago and i take him out of his cage and play with him every day. Do they have things that they like to do... he doesnt seem to like his ball ... so all i really let him do is run around the couch because i do not want to lose him. and sometimes seems he doesnt want to be played with even though he doesnt bite me

First of all, welcome to petshub!!! And each hammy has its own personality. You should try different foods with your hammy, they enjoy that!!! Most all hammys are crazy for mealworms!!!! My dwarf almost chew the bars out for them!! I've taught him to come to the bars for a one. they like to fun around on your hands too, it sounds like you already know how to play with your hamster! Do you have another question?

when they don't like/get the hang of the ball, i do the same - let then run on the sofa, on the bed, etc (all supervised, obviously). Another good thing for them to do is if you have a carpet on your stairs they love climbing up and down the stairs. Once they get the hang of it they just go up/down each step one after another really quickly :D (again, obviously, sit with them so they don't disappear, oh and also, make sure the stairs are well vaccuumed as mine always try to eat any bits of rogue fluff)
