well, we took our 9ish year old pom, Rocky, to the vet today for his regular check up. he has a strong heart murmur and is on meds for that, so the vet likes to see him every few months. doing well over all, but has a problem tooth that is loose and needs to be extracted, so we had to do blood work before they could set that up.
turned out to be a very good thing, too.. aparently his kidney function is a bit abnormal, so we're going to have to start tinkering with his meds to try and improve that.. he gets to go in next week for his teeth and a new prescription...
poor little guy.. he's a second hand "rescue".. we got him from our land lords who couldn't deal with his heart problem anymore, they'd gotten him 2 years ago when his previous owners decided they didn't want him anymore (not really sure of all the details on that..) and we have no clue about his history before that. he's the sweetest, most well-behaved little guy though.. he was way over weight when we got him too.. his diet mostly consisted of milk-bones, apparently, but now we've got him down to a good weight, with a little room to spare too.. now if we can just figure out how to get Pepe (our 5 yr old other pom, who should be at least 2 pounds lighter then him, but isn't..she's the one in my avatar, too) to loose some weight.. she's active as all get out, and doesn't get lots of treats or anything.. she's just.. chubby.... *sigh*
