how long is a dog in heat and how long after there in heat can u get it spayed ???

Usually about three weeks. But a lot of vets will spay a dog thats already in heat.

yea i agree and my mom said if she get's pergnant that she'll take her to get spayed and have them kill the puppys b/c when we got cassidy we almost ended up with 5 cats all of us fell in love with them i still have 1 :D lol she was pergnant when we got her anyway that makes me mad how can a person say they like animals then turn around and say they'll kill helpless puppys. we meant to get her spayed b4 she gone in heat but we just now have the cash wut timeing

got any ideals of how to keep her from getting blood everywere poor thing got it on me twice i love her but GROSS anyway she hasn't spend a nite with out me since i got her but i dont want she getting blood on everything + my sis would kill me if she did since we share a room

When I was young my neighbor had an unspayed dog. She put diapers on her and cut a hole for the tail. Not only does this keep the blood from being a problem, but also if a male did get near her nothing could happen.

There are diapers you can buy for dogs, or use baby diapers.

Trust me, a diaper is not gonna stop a male from getting to a bitch in heat. They're extremely resourceful and can get through almost any obstacle like screen doors, fences, ect.

Just keep her on leash at all times and away from all other dogs.

We were told by our vet to either spay Charlie before her first season or we have to wait til 3 weeks after the season ended?"!? We got her done before.

Please call the vet now and talk to them about when to get her in. I agree your going to have to keep the girl very secure. Dogs can and will mate thru fences, jump thru windows etc. Make the appt now for the time your vet agrees to.

i've been going out with her i tried to put a doll diaper my lil bro had (he wanted a lil sis and that isn't going to happen) it didn't work i hate for her to think i dont want to hold her but i dont want to get blood all over my pants. i was calling around today. we wanted to get hanna spayed sooner but nature wasn't on our side

The average life span for the bettas are 2-4 years.

Your right a bout the diaper. My friend did the same . That way if a male dog tries to hump your female he can't impregnate her because of diaper.

I wouldn't rely on the diapers too much, though. Male dogs (and females) will go over and through fences, screen, and will rip off diapers to get to each other.

i just want a diaper so she wont bleed on me i wouldn't trust it either i go out with her . how long do they bleed my aunt said about a week but she's not sure

my lil bro will be happy to here that he's had his fish about a yr

i know but i dont have 20$ to spend on doggy diapers but thank god she should stop bleeding soon then she can sleep with me again :D u think i wouldn't miss the lil bed hog at nite lol

Does anyone know how long the actually bleeding lasts? I just came home to my 8 mo old shih tzu in heat. I plan on getting her spayed but she had some problems w/ bladder infections so I was waiting till they cleared up. I had a boxer I rescued in heat once and it was such a mess, but I can't remember how long it lasted...surprisingly she has been neat thus far..but again it just started today! I realize heat last for appx. 3wks but how long does the actual bleeding last?
