:argue: I am an owner of two female rats. They are litter mates and I have had them since last October. I think they were around six weeks old. I have been nothing but happy with them. They are smart and really funny sometimes. I would like to get another rat as the new cage is amble room for 5-7 rats. Is there anything to be concerned about with the new rat fitting in? Does it matter what age? Any advice on this subject would be apprecitated.

I have never had any problems introducing new girls. I think it does work better if you get a younger female, as she will be less likely to try to take over, as an older female might. I have read many article on how to introduce...like let them get to know one another in play time first, put cages by one another, but to be honest I have never done this with does. I just put the new girl in with the others. There is usualy a bunch of sniffing around, there might even be a small squable or two, but they have always been great about it. Guess this means you will have to change your screen name here, hehe. Let us know how it goes. What kind of rat are you going to get? Too bad you are not close to me, I always have some awesome ratties available.
