Bulldogs?

My husband and I are looking for a bulldog.... rather, I should say we are looking into getting a bulldog. We've done quite a bit of research already and have talked to showers of bulldogs and have begun looking for a breeder. We basically expect to get one (a puppy) around December, if everything works out.

I do have some questions though. We have three ferrets and I'm already certain that we won't be able to let the bulldog and the ferrets together... that's fine, the ferrets don't really get along well with our other dogs, so they're used to having "run around time" separate from the dogs.
I'm really wondering if any of you have had a bulldog and other dogs (we have two mini dachshunds) and how well they got along.
Also, anyone have a bulldog and a baby? I am due in April, so our son will be several months old when we get a bulldog.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions you have.
Also, if you know of a good breeder in GA or FL, we're trying to gather as many recs as we can get.
