Hey everyone!
I have a question..my puppy was doing great with housebreaking...until it rained the other day. She REFUSED to go to the bathroom outside and probably peed in the house 5 or 6 times that day. Ever since that day she refuses to pee or poop on the grass. I continually set her there but she makes a mad dash for the sliding door and pees right on the patio before I can grab her. I have tried putting her on a lead, but she is terrified of it (we are working on it), she just sits there. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Bride her onto and stay on grass with a treat and if she pees or poos on the grass give her two treats or a special treat. See our pup is the other way round if she is busting she will not go just anywhere, she will find the smellest bit of vegetation and go on that. She only pood on concrete once after looking around and realising there was no grass anywhere and she couldn't hold it any more.

Just treat to reinforce that grass is good and peeing on grass is better!

I've been giving her treats on the grass but now she thinks its a game. When she comes on the grass and stays I give her a treat. But then she'll run onto the concrete(by the edge of the grass) and just stare at me. She comes if I call, but starts the whole process over again. Then if i try to go grab her and put her on the grass she squats and pees on the concrete. It's sooo frustrating.

Can you try to close the door?

Don't give her treats until she does something you want her to do. Say 'no', put her on the grass then ignore her afterwards if she pees or poops somewhere else.

Or, try to get a baby play pen or something that you put on the grass, put her in, and don't let her out until she pees or poops there, then praise her. it might take a while though, but it might be the best solution in your case.

Keep working on the leash, it will make things much easier in the end for sure.

Good luck anyway, they can be sooo frustrating.

The door is closed..She just always pees right by it. We're trying so hard with her and my dad is at his witts end...

Try keeping her on a leash and staying out there with her. Brutis tried that when he was a pup also. But he grew out of it now. I notice a lot of small dogs dislike walking on the wet grass or doing there duty on the wet grass. I have no idea why.
