I have come to the conclusion that my lovebird may need a little bit of a diet, but I’m not sure if she is overweight or just "poofy" ! We have had her since she was 5 months old and now she is 1 1/2, she has always been poofy and short, and she digs through her food looking for specific seeds, and seems to be a little lazy........Is there any other way that I can tell If she is overweight? And If she is, Is there a diet that she can be put on? Thank you

Sincerely,
Jay

PS- She seen our vet at 9 months old and the vet said she was healthy and didn’t say anything to me about her weight and she was the same size then as she is now

Lovebirds are naturally short and stubby, thats why theyre cute :D I often think my male lovebird is kinda fat, but hes not.
Anyways the key is variety! seed only diets will eventually lead to unhealthy birds with chronic illnesses like fatty tumors and digestion problems, so please put her on good quality pellets like harrisons or roudybush, also hagen is another good brand. Only give a bit of seed 1-2 times a week as a treat. Make sure you offer her plenty of fruits/veggies, several times a week and healthy treats like cooked rice/pasta, special bird mixes.
Heres a pic of my lovebird George, as you can tell hes kinda fat looking too, but he looks much different when hes flying.

I thought that the picture was one of my lovebirds! I saved it as one of my pictures WOW! The colors are exactly the same, the way the bird looks at you, the same cage color (white), the same kind of blinds (white) and The same background outside the window. That is really uncanny. I have thousands of pictures of my birds, I will try to find it and post it.
