My female chin by the named Bei Bei just passed away on 08/09. She left us without any notices, she just slept & gone. I don't even know how did it happened. Is it the heat stroke? Can heat stroke killed a chin ? How to prevent or how to save if this would happen again ? Pls somebody help the chins.

Yes, a chin can die of heat stroke. This is the number one killer of chins with owners that didn't our couldn't do research before getting one. This is something a pet store won't tell you. Only an experienced breeder or chin books or even the internet will warn you about. You must have ac in your house to own a chin. They can die if it gets hotter than 85 degrees.
The 2nd largest cause for chin fatality is diet. If you feed anything other than chinchilla pellets it can kill your chinny over time.
I am so sorry for your loss, you must be heartbroken. It is great that you found a fourm to ask questions before getting another chin. There are lots of other forums, just like this one, and great web sites out there that will be more than willing to help you out with your next chinny. You may even find several new friends. Good luck.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. That is awful. I had a chinchilla die just a month ago, she was perfectly healthy and happy and then an hour later she was gone. I was so shocked and confused and I felt so bad I thought I did something wrong. My breeder I usually go to told me to do an obtopsy, thinkin she was crazy I did. And low and behold it wasnt my fault. She had no left organs and only a 3 chambered heart. The little girl lived 5 months it was a miracle she lived that long.
If anything happens like that again put it in the fridge and take it to the vet immediately.
