guppies are a tropical fish so unless your pond is heated or consistantly around 75 degrees, they won't survive very long. All the female guppies willl get pregnant with fry ;) Why not try raising goldfish in your pond?

I don't think the guppies will last long with the parrotfish. And fish should never be kept in just a bowl, I think that is irresponsible (sorry to be so harsh). If you really want guppies, go ahead and get a 5 gallon all inclusive kit that should come with a filter, lighting, heater, etc... Your fish will live longer and be much happier than if they were in just a bowl.

turtles are alright, but they will eat/harass your fish. They also get pretty big, at least the ones available where I am.
How big is your tank with the parrot fish? Once I know this, I can give you some suggestions on tank mates :)

well, if it isn't a 55 gallon tank, it won't be appropriate for turtles :)

fish that you are interested in and that will fit well into your tank ;) I'm going to guess that your tank is about 29 gallons. It isn't very high so angel fish and discus will not be a good choice (they need the hieght for growing and swimming space). I bet the tank would look awesome with two schools of fish (find a type of tetra you like) and a smaller school of fish in the bottom of the thank (certain kinds of loaches and cory cats). Got any fish stores near you? I suggest you go to them, write down the names of the fish you like, and then come back here so we can help you figure out if they are good for your tank.
Oooh, or you can have an African Cichlid (pronounced "sick-lid") tank... well, for the smaller species at least. That is a very colorful and hardy group of fish. Kribensis are really neat... However, these guys are tempermental and you need to stock your tank very carefully.
Tell me what you want from your tank, and I can try to match it to your descriptions. (aggressive, peaceful, lots of fish, or a few fish, live plants, etc...)

well, I had a lot of really nic people help me when I started about a year ago, so I guess I am passing along the good karma to the next beginners ;)
So you want lots of babies... do you want ALL of them to grow up or just a few? It might be good to have one or two "population control" fish. Don't feel bad, it is nature's way of weeding out the sick and weak, as well as good nutrition. Livebearers are really cool, but I bet you'd LOVE a mated pair of kribensis, aka kribs (or their scientific name: Pelvicachromis pulcher). They have so much personality and make awesome parents. In that triangle tank you have, they'd be great. The setup would be simple...some sort of substrate like sand or small/smooth gravel, driftwood (never any cedar or evergreen trees) and natural rocks and caves. Even those orange/brown planting clay pots make great hideouts. The females get a really pretty purple/red belly when they are ready to spawn. They do like having a planted tank, but fake plants would be fine. Some "population control" fish (because the kribs can deposit anywhere between 50 and 300 eggs!!) would be a few other small african cichlids (do your research because many cichlids are too aggressive and too big for your tank) or some larger swordtails and tetras. (I like the swordtails better than the tetras) Here are some websites you might want to check out.

(word of caution, do not mix cichlids from different lakes, if you do, you will have a problem)

hope that helps... I'll try and think of some other good breeding fish, but realize the babies will need homes when they are grown ;)

hey..thankx alot again...:) i do understand the fish will need a home...i'll sell them to my fish guy and he can find them homes....and if nothing else, ill buy another tank and keep them!! fish r never too much to keep till the time u have space right? lol...well see the fish that u have mentioned might not all b available here...wat ill do is...talk to the guy and ask him wat all fish he has and can get fer me and then ill send over the names to you...and you could help me pick maybe! :) wat says?
btw, is it perfectly alright if i get another pair or two of parrots? and will turtles survive in a pond thats outside...(i.e.the pond will get very hot during the indian summer...frm abt april to august...and it will rain alot frm june to september! :P)

You could try a turtle, but I don't really know if it would work or not. As for the parrots, they can be pretty aggressive as they mature and especially if they are a breeding pair, so I wouldn't suggest getting a second. Really, you only want one breeding pair of fish per tank, unless they are smaller fish in something like a 55 gallon tank or larger. When you get into the really big tanks, multiple breeding pairs can be kept, but you need to make sure their needs are met and they have plenty of territory all to themselves.
I think the guppies will be a tasty snack for the parrots, but yu could try...And go ahead and get that list of possible fish you're interested in. I'll try and help as much as I can.
